Right to Play, Inc. is dedicated to building an all-inclusive playground, designed so that all children, the fully able and those with physical, sensory, or developmental disabilities, can play together.

Right to Play, Inc. in conjunction with SPAR and the National Center for Boundless Playgrounds ® will build this universally accessible playground at A. C. Steere Park. Using the guidelines established by Boundless Playgrounds' professional and technical experts, this playground is designed to be at least 70% accessible, enriching and fun for children of all abilities. To achieve this goal, Right to Play has a budget of $544,300. As of September 2004, we have $312,000 in committed funds and $20,000 of in-kind donations. Right to Play intends to raise the balance of $212,300 by seeking contributions from individuals, civic organizations, foundations and corporations. In-kind donations of materials, supplies and professional labor are welcome. Our goal is to have Phase One Construction completed by December 2004.

Boundless Playgrounds is a unique national, non-profit organization that works with communities throughout the country to facilitate the development of universally accessible playgrounds. The team of Boundless Playgrounds' professional and technical experts guides each playground client (Right to Play, Inc.) through every stage of the playground project.

The Caddo Parish School Board has designated an acre at A.C. Steere Park for this special playground. It is an ideal location, centrally located, readily accessible and protected from high traffic.

Right to Play, Inc. is anticipating an excellent, long term working relationship between the City of Shreveport and the Caddo Parish School Board. Together we will create a special playground for Shreveport-Bossier . O ne where children of all abilities will have the opportunity to play, with freedom; without fear or frustration. Where each child will be able to laugh, play and grow together. Leaps and Bounds will combine universal accessibility and stimulating play opportunities, with rigor and challenge so all children will be inspired to play, each at their highest level of ability. This Boundless Playground will be the first in Louisiana, providing another destination point for travelers to the area, as well as an inspiration for surrounding communities.
