Our primary goal is to increase the use of the Leaps and Bounds Playground by children and adults with special needs. In order to do this, we must increase awareness that this playground was built to serve the entire Shreveport-Bossier community and visitors to the area.

Our major objective is to expand play opportunities for children of all abilities and especially those who face obstacles that impede their full participation in society, bringing children and families together in a warm, inviting atmosphere of play. Leaps and Bounds is an important asset to our area. We want it to serve as a model and inspiration for other communities to follow our lead and build playgrounds that are truly accessible.

The freedom for all to play without frustration, ridicule or fear on all playgrounds is our ultimate goal.

Of all children, those with serious disabilities face the most daunting challenges when it comes to play activities. Many watch, sometimes tearfully, sometimes without understanding why, their able-bodied peers or siblings participate in fun activities in which they cannot. The Leaps and Bounds Playground, created by Right to Play, Inc. and donated to the City of Shreveport solves that issue. This playground enhances the quality of life for children with disabilities in the Shreveport-Bossier City area by providing a challenging, barrier-free playground they can enjoy with their able-bodied peers and friends. Even adults with disabilities can join in the fun with their children or grandchildren. By doing so, this playground will promote the reduction of prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination against persons with disabilities.
